Residential Specialist – Weekend and Night Shifts

CHI, Inc. is currently hiring Residential Specialists for WEEKEND and NIGHT shifts in our Group Homes. The Company also provides paid training for New Hire Orientation; CPR/First Aid Certification; and the Medication Technician Training Program (MTTP) to become Med Tech Certified.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.

  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License

  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check

  • Must be able to pass a reading and math test in preparation for the Medical Technician Certification

  • Ability to take training and maintain credentials required by DDA and CHI

Essential Functions:

  • Working cooperatively with Residential Coordinator to ensure staff and team members contribute to participants Individual Plan (IP) by ensuring written goals are implemented and monitored on a timely basis.

  • Working with participants’ family and team to ensure concerns are successfully resolved.

  • Working with Residential Coordinator to ensure participants medical, dental and therapy appointments occur as needed in accordance with licensing regulations and CHI Policies and Procedures.

  • Ensuring participants achieve access to community activities by obtaining transportation resources, or driving company vehicle to transport participants to and from appointments and activities.

  • Maintaining house and resident cash on hand, statements and receipts for all house and resident purchases, submitting financial reports to Residential Coordinator as requested.

  • Assuring all house meetings are documented.

  • Managing medications and security.

  • Working with Residential Coordinator to ensure participants medical, dental and therapy appointments occur as needed in accordance with licensing regulations and CHI Policies and Procedures.

  • Assuring the privacy of participant information by appropriately limiting disclosures of protected information to those who are directly responsible for the treatment and administration of the participant. Store, handle and share protected information in accordance with CHI Centers’ policies and HIPAA regulations.

  • Document all incidents, communications logs, IP goals, behavior plan collection and other documents as requested.

  • Providing ongoing, timely communication to the assigned Team Leader and Residential Coordinator all items of importance as it relates to the care and welfare of participants and residents.

  • Ensuring homes are maintained in a clean and safe manner. Reporting any issues, necessary repairs or safety concerns to Property management.

  • Caring for the emotional and physical needs of the participants/residents according to their level of independence through positive interactions.

  • Assisting with and ensures personal hygiene and maintain cleanliness of the home and physical environment.

  • Training, encourages and assists with participants/residents in preparation of nutritional, well balanced meals in accordance with any recorded dietary restrictions.

  • Assisting the participants/residents in maintain healthy relationships with family and friends.

  • Reviewing and being familiar with nursing medical status and assessments of participants/residents.

  • Programing Participant Activities

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: being familiar with participants/residents IP, goals, and data collection.

  • Facilitates and actively participates with resident attendance in recreational, leisure and social activities.

  • Assisting participants/residence, during medical appointments and ancillary services.

  • Supporting participants/residents in developing independence in household routines, money management and the use of community services.

  • Transports individuals to and from scheduled activities.
