Chef Cook Night
Two of our residential homes came together to host CHI’s first Chef/Cook Night. The goals of the evening included social interaction, creativity in menu planning and choice, education about nutrition and portion control, and participation in meal preparation.
The Chef/Cook Night was a wonderful experience for CHI’s residents to show how to move away from boring everyday meals to an innovative easy meal in a fun group setting. Preparing the summer quinoa salad was a delightful experiment for people to try new flavors and tastes that teased the palate. We had a tremendous time as the individuals paired off with staff to chop fresh vegetables, cut chilled fruit, and cook meat on the grill.
The staff realized preparing a meal can be an enjoyable group event. The evening was truly interactive and ended with an overall feeling of appreciation for all who participated.
